How we know: One supplier reported 10,000 requests for medication within 24 hours of Trump's win. Demand for "morning after" pills, IUDs and vasectomies has also increased.
In related news: Wisconsin's highest court heard arguments yesterday about whether an 1849 law should ban abortion, with no exceptions. A decision is expected next year.

In March 1942: The USS Edsall fought alone against Japanese ships that had attacked Pearl Harbor three months earlier. It dodged fire for more than an hour before it sank.
Uranus may have been misunderstood for nearly 40 years.

Why? Most of what we know about the planet comes from a brief flyby by a NASA spacecraft in 1986. But that came in the midst of a rare solar wind event, a study suggested.
What it means: Uranus isn't so different from the rest of our solar system's planets — its magnetic field was just disturbed when Voyager 2 flew by.
