| | ✈️ The Federal Aviation Administration has banned U.S. flights to Haiti for 30 days following Monday's gunfire incidents, including one in which a Spirit Airlines plane from Fort Lauderdale was diverted after being struck by gunfire while attempting to land in Port-au-Prince, according to a Notice to Air Mission issued Tuesday.
🏛️ President-elect Donald Trump and President Joe Biden are set to meet today in the Oval Office. It will mark Trump's first time back in the White House since ending his first presidency under a cloud of election denialism four years ago. A week before his departure, he was impeached by the House for a second time as lawmakers charged him with "incitement of insurrection" after his supporters violently stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. After losing the 2020 election, then-President Trump broke with two traditions that demonstrate American democracy's peaceful transfer of power: declining to invite then-President-elect Biden to the White House and skipping Biden's inauguration.
🗳️ President-elect Donald Trump announced he will nominate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as U.S. ambassador to Israel and appointed Florida Rep. Mike Waltz as his national security adviser, with sources saying he is expected to soon name South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as secretary of Homeland Security. Trump also announced Tuesday that billionaire Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, a former presidential candidate and ally, will lead a new Department of Government Efficiency.
🚨 At least 11 people were injured in an explosion at a Givaudan Sense Colour manufacturing facility in Louisville, Kentucky, according to police and Louisville Metro Emergency Services. Authorities described it as a "hazardous materials incident."
🏥 Whooping cough cases are surging in Washington state, with nearly 1,200 cases reported as of Nov. 2 -- up from just 51 at this time last year, according to the state's Department of Health.
