Work-From-Home Privileges: Revoked! Hi Reader, Here’s what our editors are looking at today… | | Sean Ring: Government Efficiency Mandate #1: No More Working From Home The nation’s largest workforce could soon be ordered back to the office full-time. President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to slash government bureaucracy and appointed uber-wealthy entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the efficiency effort. The two men have already targeted remote workers, saying that requiring federal employees back to the office five days a week would result in a welcome wave of voluntary terminations. Requiring federal employees to come to the office five days a week would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that Musk and Ramaswamy have said they welcome… If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home. ⇒ Read More Here

Jim Rickards: Is the War in Ukraine Escalating or Headed Toward an Endgame? It seems like the war in Ukraine is on the brink of escalating to a new level. North Korean troops have joined Russia on the battlefield, Ukraine is striking deep into Russian territory with US-provided weapons, and the Kremlin is yet again making nuclear threats. These developments intensify the sense that this war could spiral out of control. Paradoxically, however, they may also help usher in its end. Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike into Russia with long-range Atacms could result in European governments removing similar restrictions on the missiles they have provided Ukraine. And it’s a risky strategy, to put it kindly. This is the first time US weapons are being used to destroy targets inside Russia itself and a significant step toward a direct conflict between the two major powers. And it’s no surprise that Russia has repeatedly said it would view these long-range strikes as a direct Nato attack on Russian territory. ⇒ Read More Here
Byron King: What Economists Don’t Know From the beginning of the modern era, intellectuals have been engaged in the endless search for a prescription to shape economies in such a way as to achieve progressive goals. When these proposals involve a government takeover of the economy, they are called socialism or communism. When the proposal calls for government intervention to reshape and redirect a basically market economy, it’s called industrial policy. Look, economists do know some useful things, even some useful things that are non-obvious. For the most part, those reflect relatively simple applications of basic economic theories like supply and demand and comparative advantage. Economists tend to underestimate the complexity of the problems we face and overestimate our ability to address these challenges with their proposed policies. Simple models do not address all of our problems, some of which are highly complex. Unfortunately, we aren’t very good at constructing solutions to complex problems. Often, we must accept that there are problems for which we don’t have a good solution, or for which the only solution is long-run cultural change. ⇒ Read More Here That’s all for today, we’ll be back Monday with more topics and articles from our editors.
