Welcome, humans. |
We just read a crazy story in 404 Media about the premiere of the world's first commercially streaming genAI movies. |
TCL, the world's biggest TV manufacturer (it makes tens of millions of TVs for Samsung and LG per year!) has a streaming platform—called TCL+, of course. |
It just launched 5 genAI short films, including one about a woman turning into a slug and another about a rain planet lottery winner who gets to see the sun. Our fave might be this one tho (really clever use of AI, even if it doesn't always land): |
| THE AUDITION | SHORT FILM | TCL STUDIOS |
|
|
Each film took 12 weeks with teams across three countries working 24/7, and TCL claims the quality has improved since (likely true if they're using Hunyuan). |
The writer, Jason Koebler, says the interesting part of this news is TCL's brutally honest business strategy: |
These films exist because data shows TCL+ viewers "don't want to work that hard" to change channels, making them perfect targets for ad-supported genAI content. Now, TCL+ can use genAI to compete with Netflix... without spending that Netflix cheddar. |
Word to the wise: get ready for more news like this now that SORA's finally live… |
Here's what you need to know about AI today: |
OpenAI released a new Projects Tool to organize your chats. Ex-OpenAI AI lead Ilya Sutskever made a major AI prediction. NotebookLM launched AI podcast host chat feature. Telegram deleted 15M harmful groups using AI detection.

Day 7 of OpenAI's 12 Days of Shipmas = Projects to organize your AI chats. |
| Example project from the demo video |
|
Do you hate scrolling through ChatGPT history to find that perfect prompt? Or hunting for last month's marketing strategy conversation? Or re-explaining project requirements in every new chat? |
Congratulations, OpenAI just made your life 10x easier. On Day 7 of "12 Days of OpenAI", OpenAI unveiled Projects—one of ChatGPT's most requested features. |
Here's the TL;DR: |
Projects lets you organize related chats, files, and custom instructions in one place (complete with color-coding!). Available now for Plus, Pro, and Teams users (coming to free users "soon"). Enterprise and Edu users get access early next year—and if you're in Europe, you'll have to wait a bit longer (are you surprised?).
|
If you've never used Claude's version of the same feature, you can think of Projects as smart folders for your chats that saves and groups prompts, context, and instructions all together. |
What you can do: |
Create color-coded projects for different topics/tasks. Add existing conversations to the project via search or drag-and-drop. Upload relevant files that ChatGPT can reference. Set custom instructions specific to each project.
|
In Friday's launch video, one OpenAI engineer showed how he uses Projects to manage his apartment maintenance: |
He created a "Home Maintenance" project and uploaded two things: a maintenance log (tracking when he does tasks) and his personal documentation about his appliances/home setup. He asked ChatGPT "Do I need to replace the water filter in my fridge?" It checked his files and confirmed he's overdue (last changed in March). When he asked "How do I do that?", ChatGPT gave him the exact steps from his fridge documentation, specific to his model.
|
The real magic happens when you combine Projects with ChatGPT's other features. For example, you can: |
Use web search to find new information related to your Project files. Create polished documents in Canvas mode using Project context. Search across all conversations within a Project. Keep different custom instructions for different types of work.
|
Our take: This is a huge quality-of-life improvement for anyone who uses ChatGPT regularly for work. We've been using Claude Projects for awhile now, and it's truly the only way to stay organized when using these chatbot interfaces. |
In our experience, the ability to maintain context across multiple conversations while keeping everything organized, is a game-changer for your project management, research, and other complex tasks that require multiple chat sessions. |
Here is a side-by-side comparison between OpenAI and Claude's versions: |
| Claude version on the left, ChatGPT version on the right. |
|
What's the same: Organize chats & files, load custom instructions per project, preserve context across conversations. Just ChatGPT: Color-coded folders, drag-and-drop interface, integrates with web search & Canvas mode, and add outside chats to a project. Just Claude: Dedicated panel for Artifacts, larger context window (~500 pages), team activity feeds & sharing.
|
Want to see Projects in action? OpenAI's engineers showed off one more example: using Projects to redesign a personal website. You can upload your resume, social links, and website template, then use ChatGPT's Canvas mode to modify code with your personal info while maintaining proper syntax. Sound cool? Try it yourself! |
Here's how to create your first Project: |
Click the + button next to Projects on the left sidebar. Name your Project and pick a color (for fun!—also, organization). Add any relevant files (PDFs, docs, spreadsheets). Set any custom instructions that'll apply to all chats in this Project. Add existing conversations by dragging them into the Project, or start new ones.

Pika 2.0 is live, and the main feature is "Scene Ingreidents" where you upload your own characters, objects, and locations to build exactly the shots you want for truly "custom" videos—here are some demos (#5 is our fave!). SORA is actually usable now, so if you pay for Plus or Pro, you can test it out. We rounded up all the help videos to walk you through how to use it—check our article on it here. Alpha from Public monitors your investment watchlist and explains price movements in real-time, giving you instant updates on stocks, ETFs, and crypto you follow. Cold Case Crackbot is a custom GPT for Reddit sleuths and True Crime lovers—it helps you to investigate unsolved crimes by searching missing persons databases and guiding you on how to organize your research. No more copyright creates unique, copyright-free versions of your images that you can freely use for creative projects. Accio matches you with the perfect suppliers by analyzing market trends and industry data to help you source products. Just GPT IT lets you show your coworkers how to use ChatGPT instead of asking you the same question over and over (demo).

Telegram used AI to take down 15M groups + channels related to fraud and terrorism this year—that's after the platform's founder got arrested and charged for allegedly enabling such content. NotebookLM now lets you interrupt and chat with the AI podcast hosts (demo)—finally!! Now I can create my dream podcast, "Pretend you have friends." This thread compares the different image to video capabilities of various generative video tools on a single image… pretty cool to see the differences.
