Celebrating Every Child

When God came to Earth, He did not arrive on a chariot with an army of angels surrounding Him. He did not come with superhuman strength or a dazzling display of power. Rather, the King of the Universe was born as an infant child – just like us. Every one of us begins our life inside the womb of our mother, and so Christ did the same.

Jesus loves babies, and so do we. This week, bishops in the United States will invite us to pray for all the children, who like Jesus, are beginning their lives in their mothers' wombs. We pray for their health and safety and we pray for their mothers.

It is a tremendous gift to be co-creators with THE Creator, and we know that gift comes with challenges and sacrifice. Several saints have shown us the incredible power and faith of a mother. Saint Anne, Saint Gianna, Saint Helena, Servant of God Chiara Corbella Petrillo, and (of course) Jesus' mother, Mary, are just a few examples. As we begin a week focused on celebrating life and praying for the unborn, these women are fantastic friends in heaven to get to know.
