T-Minus 7 Days
The Laws of Trump Hi Reader, Here’s what our editors are looking at today… | | Politics: Byron King – The Physics of Trump: Here’s What It Means to You Donald Trump is inbound. The countdown is: T-Minus 7 Days. And Trump works fast if you haven’t noticed. Indeed, Trump’s former trade adviser, Peter Navarro, once quipped, "There’s normal time, and then there’s Trump-time.” Another way to say it is that there’s a particular physics to Trump. Maybe not exactly Isaac Newton's physics, but a Trump spin on how to get things done. Physics is the branch of science that studies the nature and properties of matter and energy. If you compare it to politics, Trump has upended many rules of how things happen in the U.S. and even the broader world. (Hello, Greenland?) Indeed, Trump operates uniquely, with what we might call the “Laws of Trump,” so to speak. Trump definitely pushes against boundaries and envelopes. This brings us back to Navarro’s concept of Trump-time and what it means to you and us all. Things are about to change, and they’ll change fast in many areas. Be prepared. ⇒ Read More Here
Politics: Matt Insley – Kash Patel’s Ally in Congress On Sunday evening, FBI Director Christopher Wray announced his resignation – effective January 20, 2025. With just one week until Inauguration Day, President-elect Trump, who appointed Wray in 2017, has welcomed the resignation, saying it’s an end to the weaponization of the Justice Department. Wray's tenure has been marked by controversies, including the Mar-a-Lago raid and his questioning of the first assassination attempt at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump has nominated loyal ally Kash Patel to succeed Wray, a choice which signals a potential shift in the FBI’s priorities. If confirmed, Patel intends to revamp the FBI, reflecting his commitment to expose entrenched bureaucratic resistance. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has expressed his committee’s willingness to aid Patel’s efforts, suggesting a united front in the incoming administration’s approach to government reform. ⇒ Read More Here
Markets: Adam Sharp – Go Anti-ESG For a 7.9% Yield Over the past 10 years, “socially-conscious” investors have shunned sectors such as tobacco, firearms, oil and gas, and alcohol. For example, huge investment firms like Allianz SE ($2.3T assets under management) refuse to own any tobacco stocks or bonds. These firms that have “divested” from tobacco cannot buy some of the highest-yielding, recession-resistant, and most dependable cash flow generators on the planet. I’d guess that “dirty” industries like tobacco are avoided by up to a third of large investment firms today. Maybe even half. The woke mind virus is alive and spreading among institutional investors. This should mean these anti-ESG companies are not reaching their full price potential, and are artificially cheap. In theory, this translates to higher yields. In practice, this also appears to be the case. ⇒ Read More Here That’s all for today, we’ll be back tomorrow with more topics and articles from our editors.
