Hello Indiana, Did you catch my last email? If so, you'll know I'm running my popular course Improvise Blues Harmonica! starting Monday 24th February. Enrolment closes at midnight on Sunday 23rd February. I've already had a huge response! Harmonicats from across the world have enrolled in the course and are ready for a fun 5 weeks. But I've also got lots of emails asking me exactly what the course involves. I guess you could also do with some more infoIndiana. So, here's what's involved: This is a five-module course. Each module consists of 10 to 20 short videos, where I guide you step-by-step through one vital aspect of improvising. Although you can take as long as you like, the modules are designed to be done in seven days. So, you get access to a new module each week, which builds on what you learnt in the last one. Here's a breakdown of what you'll find in each module: Week 1 - Understanding Rhythm. Playing on-beat and off-beat, finding the beat in tracks, using the 2-draw, and rhythm licks. This module establishes the building blocks of improvisation and underpins the rest of the course. Week 2 - Understanding A 12 Bar Blues Structure. This covers the 12 bar blues form, which is the framework behind all blues music. I teach you how to understand and memorise this structure, so you have a common 'blues language' to share with other musicians. Week 3 - Using The Blues Scale. Here, I show you how to play the scale that lies at the heart of harmonica blues, significantly growing your improv skills. Week 4 - Ear Training. How to translate what you hear directly into musical harmonica responses. Through call-and-response drills, I help you develop the vital mind-ear-harp link that enables spontaneous improvisation. Week 5 - Using Licks To Build A Solo. In this final module I show you how to construct an expressive 12 bar blues solo using the techniques you've learnt. You'll bring all your licks together through a technique called phrasing. By the end, you'll be able to play the smooth, joined up harp music you've been dreaming about. Each module features downloadable tabs and audio files to help your learning. And at the end of each module, I set you a challenge that helps you bed in what you've learnt and prepares you for the next stage. You also get lifetime access to the interactive course community - where you can meet other students, listen to their improvs, and upload your own music for feedback. 👉 Live Q and A Session. This is a 1-hour online event where you can ask anything you like about improvisation. Save the date - March 5th at 5pm UK time (GMT) OK, that's it for now! But please remember this - you only have until midnight on February 23rd before the course closes. Hit this link now to enrol for only $97 Happy harping, Tomlin PS: If you have any questions - or something isn't clear - please reply to this email and I'll help you. |
