1. Sharing in a Snap ....................

You can snap photos in a fraction of a second. Wouldn't it be great, if it were just as fast and just as easy to share them with all your friends?

Now it is. Thanks to photocasting, your friends and family can enjoy your photos almost as quickly as you can download them into iPhoto. And easy: all you have to do is select a folder and choose Photocast from the Share menu. iPhoto and .Mac* take care of the rest.

Not only will all the existing photos you've chosen to photocast automatically appear in your friend's iPhoto library. But every time you place new photos in that folder, your friends and family will see them as quickly as those photos can travel over the Internet. What's more, even friends with Windows can play--find out how.

* The .Mac service is available to persons age 13 and older. Annual membership fee and Internet access required. Terms and conditions apply.

2. Creativity on Demand ....................... If you love the Mac and you love jazz, it's really cool to listen to "Silver Rain," the latest album from Jazz Fusion phenom Marcus Miller, and know he produced the entire album using Logic Pro on his Macs.

"I was on tour when I started the album," Miller says of "Silver Rain." As ideas came to him, he would develop them in Logic, even holding impromptu recording sessions on his PowerBook.

Wherever his gigs take him, Miller's system remains ready to perform at all hours and all venues. "The new sound processing apps are really revolutionary," says Marcus Miller. "I remember having to wait to hear the sound in my head until I got to the studio or until I could buy a certain piece of gear. I don't have to wait anymore. If I have a few hours, I can create pretty much exactly what I imagine."

3. Now Shipping: Final Cut Pro 5.1 .................................. One box. Many tools.

The production studio in a box comes complete with Universal versions of the four headliners-- Final Cut Pro 5, Soundtrack Pro, Motion 2, and DVD Studio Pro 4--as well as the superb supporting cast--Compressor 2, Cinema Tools 3, Apple Qmaster 2, and LiveType 2--all of which now run natively on both PowerPC-based and Intel-based Macintosh computers.

5. It Began with "Plans" ........................ "Directions" takes the innovative Death Cab for Cutie where no band has gone before. Inspired by "Plans," the groups Grammy-nominated and wildly popular album, "Directions" offers a collection of short films, each created by a different filmmaker and creative team and each inspired by a song from the original album.

Though the songs play as a soundtrack throughout, it is the short films that take center stage on this first-of-its-kind video album. You can purchase the entire video album exclusively from the iTunes Music Store. Care to preview the new "Directions"?

6. News Hounds Take Note ........................

Just subscribe to the New York Times Front Page podcast, and iTunes will download it for you every day, letting you hear the news of the day as you drive to work, walk the track, or climb the stairmaster.

But that's not all. The iTunes Music Store makes it easy for you to subscribe not just to the Time's Front Page podcast but to any of the 18 podcasts currently available from the Times. That includes the Science Times; the Op-Ed Podcast; movie and book reviews; sports, theater, music updates; and still others.

Think of it as one-stop-shopping for news.

7. The Matter Before the Court .............................. When two Atlanta-based law firms decided to merge a few years ago, one decision that appeared on the Gaslowitz Frankel LLC docket: would the firm conduct business on a Mac or PC?

Turns out, thanks to a quick out-of-court settlement, the firm found strongly for the former. Adam Gaslowitz, one of the founding partners, cites "ease of use and productivity," as the main reasons for the favorable decision. "We don't worry about viruses, connecting external hard drives, or adding new printers. When a contract attorney or temp comes to work at our office, any person here can explain the basics of the Finder, email, Word and Safari, everything they will need to do to be productive, in under five minutes. It doesn't get much easier than that."

Case closed.
