Session Spotlight: Network-Connected Devices WinHEC 2006 features great sessions on how to build network-connected devices that are easy to discover, configure, and use. For example:
· How to Use Windows Connect Now Configuration to Enable Simple Setup for Consumer Wi-Fi Networks The Wi-Fi Alliance recently selected Windows Connect Now v2 as the standard for wireless configuration for consumer networks. This session reveals more about this technology, including Windows Vista support, development tools, test tools, and implementation guidelines.
· Plug and Play for Network-Connected Devices Plug and Play Extensions (PnP-X) in Windows Vista extends the PnP experience to network-connected devices. This session examines the requirements for discovery protocol, device metadata, driver development, and application development.
· Working with the Windows Logo Program for Network Devices This session reviews the Logo Program requirements, test tools, and mechanics for premium network devices. It provides recommendations for evaluating the video capability of home networking standards such as 802.11n, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), HomePlugAV, powerline, home phoneline network adapter (HPNA), coaxial, and others.
