Amazon Friday sale: Noise canceling headphones

Our road- and plane trips have gotten quieter since we bought our son a pair of noise canceling headphones. He's very sensitive to sound, so the ambient noise that "leaked" through with regular headphones bothered him. The noise canceling effect helps him truly relax into his music. This set, the iTouchless Pure-Ear Active, is on sale in today's Amazon Friday sale for $79.99 (usually they are $129.95), and is foldable, but we got our son the cheaper Sony version which works just fine.

Leave the batteries out of toys to double the fun

Tracy, I don't know how long it will be till the kids are onto this, but it's brilliant.

At our house we get double duty out of our toys. When introducing a new toy we try to use it without batteries first... Then after using it that way for several weeks or months we add batteries for an almost new toy with all new experiences! This is especially good when your children are really young - it helps to develop their imagination in a world that is so "electronic crazy."

This brings back memories of my kids' loud toddler toys. The worst was an older version of the vTech Sort n' Go car (I don't know how it sounds now). We were so happy when the batteries ran out. Why we didn't take them out I'll never know.

Bottle drying rack serves as a Ziploc bag dryer, too

Amanda's figured out a good use for that old countertop fixture:

We're done bottle feeding here, but I've found that my Munchkin bottle drying rack is a perfect way to dry Ziploc bags after rinsing them out to reuse. They are way too pricey (not to mention hard on the environment) not to use over and over again.

While searching at Amazon for a picture of a bottle drying rack, I came across this cute one from Skip Hop. Who knew a bottle rack could look so good?
