24 Political Prisoners Released in Burma

WASHINGTON, Feb 26 (OneWorld.net) - The Burmese military junta
released 24 political prisoners as part of a pledge to give amnesty to
6,000 detainees, although thousands of political prisoners remain in

Peace Communities Under Attack in Colombia

Afghanistan: Schools Where There Were None

WASHINGTON, Feb 26 (OneWorld.net) - A humanitarian aid group has
opened schools and enrolled thousands of students in remote areas of
Afghanistan, where the literacy rate is just 28 percent and where
girls were previously prohibited from attending school.
