50 Million Could Lose Their Jobs in 2009
WASHINGTON, Apr 27 (OneWorld.net) - An additional 50 million people
could lose their jobs this year unless global financial institutions
and governments act now, cautioned a coalition of trade unions before
international anti-poverty banks met in Washington, DC this weekend.

Food Emergencies Continue in 32 Countries
WASHINGTON, Apr 27 (OneWorld.net) - Despite an "improved global
cereal supply" and a drop in international food prices, the cost of
food in developing countries worldwide continues to soar, at record
levels in some countries, warned the United Nations agricultural
agency in a new report.
