Arnold Zimberg Shirts

Even seemingly mundane things can conceal awesomeness, like
the nerd in accounting who can totally shred, and play the
guitar really well, too. For shirts that reward a deeper
look, check out Arnold Zimberg.
A guy who toiled for years under the raised eyebrows of
luminaries like Givenchy, Valentino, and Geoffrey Beene
before setting out on his own, AZ now crafts moderately
slim-fit casual buttondowns in summer-friendly light
cottons, which all appear fairly standard at first, until
their examination reveals little surprises -- which can be a
great characteristic for shirts, but thank god he doesn't
make underwear. His "Washed" collection (enzyme-treated for
a supremely worn-in feel) drops 12 new shirts/month; plaids
include a super-thin number with soft purple checks,
cowboy-ish pockets, and bold green piping running down the
side seams, and a lumberjackish affair in broad green &
white with red gingham inside the collar and cuffs, finally
allowing you to eat a romantic Italian meal off your
forearm. Non-plaids come in subtle pink-and-purple-stripes,
w/ boxy flap-covered pockets, and a flash of green satin up
the inside of the placket; army-green linen with thin white
stripes, and a back yoke where they go diagonal; and a
lightweight white job that at first seems plain, but rocks
hidden purple inside the collar and an understated print
that upon closer inspection looks like strings of plus
signs, parentheses, and different-sized periods, but we're
totally not touching that joke.
Uniquely, there's also a pink-stitched solid black shirt
with sleeve tabs to keep your cuffs rolled up, and thin
black satin shooting up the inside of the placket that's
only visible as you unbutton your shirt, an action you'll be
powerless to resist when Barry gets down to "Breaking the Law".
