Everyone romanticizes the idea of a community joint --
except you, since you're the only one who seems to buy pot.
Striving to provide a different kind of local joint,
Community Q BBQ.
Deftly plating locally-sourced BBQ bites, Q's from two ATL
natives hoping to leverage their grilling experience (one
was part-owner at Marietta's Sam & Dave's BBQ) to turn the
Emory-area joint into a true neighborhood spot; that homey
feel's accomplished via tan vinyl bench seats, tables topped
with plastic-covered burlap cloths, piggy banks on a
wall-spanning mantle, and window-pane-framed paintings of
pigs, cows, and chickens, even though it was curtains for
the ones on your plate. Eats're sourced from regional farms,
and everything but the Brunswick Stew's cooked fresh daily
(with leftovers given to food banks); the feasting commences
with sammies like sliced beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken
(pulled or bone-in), or mild smoked sausage, which you'll
just have to settle for, cause they refuse to do straight
menthol. Bun-less meat includes ribs of beef or St.
Louis-style pork (caramelized w/ BBQ sauce) with sides like
collards and rigatoni mac-n-cheese; you can also feed a
four-man posse or a one-man you with take-out-only family
packs, which come with 1.5lbs of chicken, pork, or beef, two
pints of sides, and burger buns -- also the "cute" nickname
that got your dad banished to sleeping on the couch.
While they're waiting 'til January to bring the booze,
they've got your thirst covered with sweet tea and homemade
lemonade; they're also planning to start pushing all tables
together after the new year to promote unity in the
community -- something you're already quite familiar with,
at least until the green's gone, and you have no friends again.
