The List
Make 2010 the year of not-hideous-fatness: hit Thrillist's
Resolution HQ, and stop putting gravy on your Crispix.
Fitness: Boyovyi Hopak
5000 N Cumberland Ave, at Argyle; Norwood Park
Implement an anti-cream puff New Year's resolution with this
Ukrainian martial art that dates back to the Cossack
warriors, blending a variety of footwork and kicks with
punches drawn from Kyivan bare knuckle fighting as well as
use of traditional weapons like the spys (spear), kosa (war
scythe), and a kelep, which is a warhammer, something you'd
already know if you'd spent your childhood immersed in the
Ukraine edition of Dungeons and Dragons instead of lamely
playing sports.

From the trio behind Roscoe Village's dearly departed Kaze,

banquettes and an eight-person bar where they're pouring an
extensive wine and sake list to pair with signature seasonal
sashimi and nigiri along with other specialties like panko
black cod with seasonal berries and chocolate miso and
Japanese-style venison, meaning even after it's fired, it'll
still wear a suit to the park and eat every last flower.

Read: 2010: Living in the Future
A Chi journalism professor who purchased a 1972 book
entitled 2010 as a boy and managed to hang onto it all this
time is posting a blow-by-blow account of the book's
hilariously illustrated predictions as to what our world
should look like, including some prescient forecasting (the
book predicts, fairly accurately, the online grocer Peapod's
concept), and some that missed the mark, as the world
tragically is not yet ready for robot arms flinging its
morning toast... Or is it?
