Having recently sold Salute on the East Side, three Montreal-bred brothers're hitting the West Side with a massive, high-ceiling'd 200 seater, split between a banquette-lined dining room and a massive white-washed back-lit bar/lounge, where they're serving an audaciously massive mix of Europe/N. African/America/Asian cuisine, but curiously nothing from Canada. The crazily mashed up menu's got sandwiches (caramelized onion/horseradish aioli/port wine rosemary au jus Famous French Dip, house slaw/slivered red onion Falafel Burger), pasta (Kobe beef/fresh herb Rigatoni Bolognese, crab/ricotta Ravioli) and starters ranging from bleu cheese/crispy pancetta Kobe Beef Sliders on toasted sweet Hawaiian rolls, to tempura fried Newcastle Nut Brown Ale fries, 'cause sometime you feel like a nut, and sometimes you realize both those candy bars are gross and want to eat fries. Eclectic entrees include a szechwan peppercorn Seared Hawaiian Ahi w/ wakame seaweed salad, a Cajun trinity/white rice Gulf Prawn etouffee, and a ras el hanout dry rubbed Moroccan Cornish Hen; there's also sushi like the Hamachi/avocado/daikon sprouts, TABLE 35 Roll topped w/ BBQ Unagi, and the Tempura Crab Roll w/ red rock crab & Extra Special Bitter Prawn that mostly feels that way cause you're EATING IT.
Drinks are also diverse with classic offerings like the French 75, the Maple Old Fashion, and Sangria as well as 3 kinds of absinthe, and this month they're offering happy hour w/ 1/2 off apps and cheaper drinks all night, because if you can't please everyone, then you're at least going to need some pretty True Lies.
