FRISCO, Texas (Jan. 1, 2010) - The US Youth Soccer National League Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 Girls celebrated the new year by showcasing their talents in meaningful and competitive matches today at Disney's Wide World of Sports Soccer Complex in Orlando, Fla.

As the teams played out day two of competition in Orlando, they faced more than one opponent on the field as the rain showed up and challenged the teams in all matches.

Under-15 Girls
The Dallas Texans 95 Red (N-TX) marked their fifth win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Sockers FC Chicago (IL). Sophie Groff netted one in the 40 th minute off of a corner kick and in the 80 th minute, Jasmine Hart hit one off a 25 yard blast. The win puts the Texans at 16 points in the League to secure them one of the top two spots in the Under-15 Girls age group, which punches their ticket to the 2010 US Youth Soccer National Championships http://www.usyouthsoccer.org/link.asp?l=10&mid=698003&lid=102507 to be played July 20-25 in Overland Park, Kan.

The Scorpions Elite (MA) kept up the momentum that led them to a 5-0 victory yesterday as they faced NSA Premier Fireballs (IL) today. By halftime, the Scorpions were up 6-0 with goals by Lauren Berman (10:00, 24:00, 34:00), Andrea O’Brien (21:00, 39:00) and McKenzie Meehan (30:00). Bridget Conway and Madison Meehan scored in the 50 th and 54 th minutes for the 8-0 win.

Under-16 Girls
The Dallas Texans 93 (N-TX) and NSA Premier Fury (IL) were both sitting at 10 points in the League and both were looking to come out on top as they faced one another today. Christina Ordonez scored for NSA in the 17 th minute with a laser shot to the upper 90. NSA held onto the lead until the 48 th minute when Lissi Lonsberry received a cross and headed the ball into the net for the equalizer. Neither team was able to put another on the board, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Cheyenne Spade gave FC Pennsylvania Strikers (E-PA) the 1-0 lead over KC Select Scream Red (MO) in the 30 th minute and teammate Cassandra Pecht upped the lead to 2-0 only five minutes later. The FC Penn defense held tight allowing no KC Select goals for the game to end at 2-0.

Under-17 Girls
The Dallas Texans 93 Red (N-TX) and Montclair United Thunderbolts (NJ) had an uneventful first half with zeros on the boards at halftime. Stephanie Anasi put the first Texans’ goal up off of a rebounded shot from 18 yards out in the 44 th minute. Kate Schwindel found the Montclair equalizer in the 60 th minute, but Abby Smith countered for the Texans in the 64 th minute for the 2-1 lead. Gabby Galanti tied the game at 2-2 with a 20 yard right footed shot into the top corner of the goal. A successful penalty kick by Schwindel in the 82 nd minute secured the Montclair 3-2 victory.

Ponte Vedra Storm (FL) took the 1-0 lead over Syosset Sting (E-NY)with a Morgan Brian 22 nd minute goal and extended it to 2-0 with Allison Brashear’s 59 th minute goal.
