Lifesong Wilderness Adventures
Making you the Man (vs. Wild)
There are two types of men in the world: the ones that're
rugged, independent, and self-sufficient, and the ones that
didn't play Curly in City Slickers. Get jacked (Palance) on
survival knowledge at Lifesong Wilderness Adventures.
Created by an expert survivalist who's honed his skill w/
Oregon Search and Rescue (and as a consultant for Man vs.
Wild) LWA's exclusive wilderness survival camps'll butch you
up w/ personal instruction in basic & advanced survival
skills, nature awareness, animal tracking, and other
"ancient ways" - all of which he learned at the feet of a
real "coyote tracker", who mostly just watched them
mistakenly follow the Road Runner into painted images of
caves. Dip your toe in the survivalist pool with relatively
chill 3-day basic & advanced weekend wilderness schools (you
can even stay in a nearby motel) at either their Oregon or
Cali camps, which'll somewhat increase your manliness w/
hands-on lessons in fire making, water purification,
shelter-building, wildlife awareness & "survival cooking",
which teaches you all about the four food mainstays: plants,
insects, small mammals, & seeds/nuts, but surprisingly
little re: whether your possum fork goes next to your cicada
spoon. Alternatively, you can take the plunge with The Edge,
an extreme 6-day "adventure" based on LWA's work w/ Bear
Grylls, where you spend three days camping/learning to
survive/being starved (they call it "coping w/ reduced
calories"), before being left alone overnight, so that
part's pretty well worn territory, except that you're in the
woods.
Their future plans include courses at Wash State next year,
and, for the really hardcore, there's a 6 week wilderness
apprentice program, or a series of increasingly difficult
courses called The Circle, proving that there maybe two
types of people in the world, but all of them can appreciate
The Lion King.
Learn all about how people dumb enough to go outside can
possibly survive with Lifesong Wilderness Adventures
