We disembarked the ship and stayed in a hotel as part of our cruise tour, which was a good plan since river ships must dock about an hour from downtown.
St. Petersburg is a popular port of call for both cruise ships sailing to Scandinavia and northern Europe, and for river cruises between St. Petersburg and Moscow. Either way provides good opportunities to see this fascinating city.
