Get timeless this summer, with Converse's One Star '74: a suede low-top originally unleashed the same year a certain song about fighting in a kung fu style hit #1, now boldly reinvented for 2010 -- the year we'll hopefully finally get a hit single called "Capoeira Fighting". Pacific Edge Hotel
Laguna Beach's new oceanfront digs
647 South Coast Highway; Laguna Beach; 949.281.5709
Laguna Beach is full of activity, with close proximity to everything from the sand, to the wilderness, to Stephen and Kristin, even if they are kind of on bad terms (thanks a lot, Sam!). Putting you right in the middle of all of it, Pacific Edge.
PE's a just-opened total remodel of a beat-up beachside inn that's been modern'd up into a surfy hang fronting 300 feet of Laguna Beach, and featuring two pools, a game room, an oceanfront resto, and complimentary towels, chaise lounges and umbrellas down on the sand, which is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can be that guy. Amenities include access to Laguna Health Club, discounts at local spas, an extensive pillow menu, ocean-view balconies and full kitchens; or if you're not into Easy Mac, their waterfront restaurant the Beach House features breakfasts like Lobster Huevos Rancheros and Cinnamon Raisin French Toast, as well as coastal dinner grub like oysters Rockefeller, Caribbean lobster tail, and Pacific Mahi Mahi w/ grilled mini bok choy, which unlike the mini Bach Choy doesn't open for Mini Kiss when they tour Japan. If you weren't active enough on the Wi-Fi'd beach, the hotel's also rolling out a package called "Livin On The Edge", which gives you $150 towards your choice of a shload of awesome/dangerous activities, ranging from paintballing and car racing to zip-lining, shark diving, and rides on a bi-plane, which could go either way.
In addition, your room key gets 10-20% off a slew of local restaurants and stores, and if you mention Thrillist and book through the link below they'll also throw in a free bucket of beer, which you can enjoy at your own leisure, unless someone ruins it for you (thanks a lot, Sam!).
