Police: Burglars left behind sex tape ELMA, Wash. (UPI) -- Police in Washington state said they identified a pair of sex tape-making burglars when the couple left behind their camera. Investigators said a neighbor collecting mail for an Elma homeowner who was away stumbled upon the naked couple having sex on the floor of the house Monday, KXRO-AM, Aberdeen, Wash., reported. Grays Harbor County sheriff's Chief Deputy Dave Pimentel said the couple left behind their clothes and camera when they fled. He said deputies identified the couple from the sex tape footage. Police said a 39-year-old woman, whose name was not released, was arrested and charged with burglary. An arrest warrant was issued for a 31-year-old man. Copyright 2010 by United Press International

Flyover blamed for mass chicken deaths COTES-D'ARMOR, France (UPI) -- A French farmer is demanding compensation for 4,800 chickens apparently killed by fright when two jet fighters flew overhead. Autopsies of several of the birds revealed they were alive before the planes flew over Tuesday, Radio France Internationale reported. "If we hadn't been there, it would have been worse," Etienne Le Mehaute, a chicken farmer in Cotes-d'Armor, Brittany, told the Ouest France newspaper. He and his family, who were eating lunch at the time, rushed to the coops after the military aircraft flew past, "causing vibrations in our backs, it was so loud," Le Mehaute said. The terrified chickens, who were 10 months old, had all rushed to one side of the building where they were kept. Nearly 5,000 suffocated when they stood on top of one another in several layers. The farmer, who is in charge of 68,000 fowl belonging to an agricultural cooperative, is demanding 12,000 to 15,000 euros ($16,500-$19,000) in compensation. French air traffic control confirms two military planes flew over the area at a height permitted by regulations. Torpedo under Philly highway was replica PHILADELPHIA (UPI) -- A torpedo discovered Friday at a Philadelphia construction site turned out to be a harmless replica, police said. Archaeologists working on the site near the Delaware River noticed the torpedo when they arrived about 7 a.m., The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Two men sitting on the replica -- and drinking beer -- said they and a third companion discovered it in the river off Port Richmond and moved it to the area under Interstate 95, hoping they could sell it for scrap. Police Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said the bomb squad quickly realized the torpedo, which weighed 800 to 1,000 pounds, contained no explosives. He said a more thorough examination determined it to be a fake. The men who said they found the device disappeared before police arrived. During World War II, a shipyard built submarines in Port Richmond and the replica may date back to that era. The archaeological team is conducting a dig on the site of a new I-95 interchange. 604-pound woman freed from apartment BANGKOK (UPI) -- A group of 50 Thai rescuers and construction workers freed a 604-pound woman from her third-floor apartment to receive treatment for a tumor, authorities said. The rescuers, organized by Bangkok Gov. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, freed Umnuayporn Tongprapai, 40, Thursday and transported her to a hospital to receive treatment for a tumor in her right leg, the Pattaya Daily News reported Friday. Tongprapai said she had not left her apartment in more than three years. "I've been living in this room and have not gone outside for three years," the woman said. "I can walk a little, just enough that I can go to bathroom. But I have to cling to my son the whole way." The 50-member rescue team included emergency responders, demolition crews, engineers and operators for a forklift and a scissor lift. Doctors said the woman is likely the heaviest person in Thailand. They said her advanced weight is likely the result of a thyroid condition and they will attempt to treat the problem along with removing the tumor. Copyright 2010 by United Press International
