Gamer soaps to clean your bits
Feeling nostalgia for the things you loved is inevitable
when you get bigger, which is why you never hear Nate
Robinson talking about the Snorks. Since you're not that
sprightly little man, get clean with said nostalgia, thanks
to Digital Soaps.
Created by a Bellingham-based nerd/former journalist full of
wistfulness for childhood trips with her father to an old
electronics warehouse (and the chocolate floppy disks they
sold there), DS is a line of custom-molded, hand-poured,
uber-geeky soaps that come in a variety of shapes, and're
sure to be loved by the people who're most out of it. DS's
latest geekery includes hyper-realistic cartridges ranging
from a gray NES game that's stickered to look like Mario 3
(and even comes in a black sleeve), to a black Space
Invaders number based on cartridges for 1977's Atari 2600,
and a richly detailed Duck Hunt gun, although you know this
time, that dog's laughing at something else. Additional
dude-cleaners include 8-bit inspired soaps (Tetris sets with
color schemes inspired by the game's levels), plus a mess of
controller replicas that include Xbox, PS3, Super NES, and
even Wii, although you really shouldn't do that in the shower.
Non-gaming goods include Mountain Dew-/Pepsi-scented shampoo
and conditioners in re-purposed soda bottles; though most
pieces have that MD scent, some come available in citrus and
"7-Up Pound Cake", plus DS just started infusing select
items with caffeine, which can be absorbed through the skin
-- possibly the only way to get your fix since the barista
can't see you behind the display case with the smooth
Christmas reggae at Starbucks.
