Russia drought, food loss spur inflation

YALTA, Russia (UPI) -- Russia's drought is beginning to cause inflation, Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin said Saturday.

"In the beginning of the next year, the drought's influence will start to decrease and the prices will flatten out," Kudrin told Rossia 24 TV channel.

The Ministry of Economic Development said prices rose 0.9 percent in September.

Macy's puts Haitian art in stores

NEW YORK (UPI) -- U.S. retailer Macy's said its stores were ready to put the first of its 20,000 art pieces purchased from Haitian artists up for sale.

The retailer's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Terry Lundgren said the purpose of the large rush order placed in Haiti two months ago went beyond company profits.

Lundgren said, "This is never going to be a financial game changer for a company like ours. But it can be a game changer for those artists in Haiti," he said...

Oxmoor House books on wiring recalled

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Oxmoor House Home Improvement Books due to faulty wiring instructions.

Following the wiring instructions in technical diagrams and narrative instructions in about 540,000 books in a series of publicans could result in shock and fire hazards, the commission said.

Oxmoor House Inc. of Birmingham, Ala., has added the books to a previous recall in which 951,000 titles were pulled back. <...

RV sales rise slightly

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- U.S. sales of recreational vehicles have made a slight comeback in 2010, although sales are still slow in the top-end Class A RVs.

The Charlotte, N.C., Observer reported Saturday that total RV sales have risen 3 percent during the first half of 2010 to 92,974 compared with January through June of 2009.

Sales of Class A vehicles, which run as high as $400,000, were down 8 percent compared to 2009 January through June to 5,242 vehicles sold.
