Score sports stuff with smack talk
Over the years, trash talking has been forced to adapt to the shifting landscape of sports and popular culture, an important step considering murderer's rows now frequently contain numerous actual murderers. Proving it can adapt to the ever-changing Web as well, FanVibe.
From a trio of dudes with a blend of sports (ESPN) and Web (Digg) cred, FV's essentially a Foursquare tailored to sport watching that prompts users to check-in during games to earn points by posting cutting verbal assaults, though spend too much time doing so around the office and Cutler won't be the only one getting sacked. Each post earns points redeemable for virtual badges, discounts on team gear, exclusive invites to fan events, and even game tix; those looking for extra earnings can get there by referring friends and casting votes in predictive insta-polls like "Will the Blackhawks score on this power play?", but not "Will Patrick Kane score after the game?", the answer is always yes. You can also sync up Yahoo fantasy leagues for live play-by-play/scoring updates and real-time league message board action, though now that Wesleyan alum Larry Beavers got waived, you probably won't have anything funny to say for the rest of the season.
To round it all out, Fan's poised to to announce a partnership with one of the major sports leagues, though hopefully not the NHL, as it may soon be RIP.
