Kantauri Seafood Restaurant
Family-tradition eats from Northern Spain
Now open for lunch and dinner; 5132 Biscayne Blvd; Morningside; 305.934.9406

The Old World has brought plenty of stuff to the new one, like disease, soccer, and their nexus: Posh Spice. Bringing Old World Basque flavors to Miami, Kantauri Seafood Restaurant.

From a Basque dude whose dad and grandad both fished the Kantauri Sea between France and Northern Spain, Kantauri uses old world generational know-how to cook up Basque seafood and other Northern Iberian grub (i.e., more French, less Med) served in a maritime-ish spot with espresso-stained concrete floors, bistro tables, and fishing nets, who must've been kidding with that Devin Harris for 'Melo trade. Things start small with tapas like grilled squid brushed w/ olive oil, sandwiches like a roasted pork loin & 'shroom number, and apps including a fresh Florida lobster salad, and the house specialty, red mullet, which the Red Skull would absolutely kill for at this point. Bigger eatin' includes salted cod in a green pepper sauce, squid in its own black sauce w/ rice pilaf & a fried quail egg, and a garlic-dressed baked monkfish, although you'd really expect better behavior out of the clergy.

For now they're serving beer and wine (mostly Iberian) as well as desserts like flan and Basque Mousse made with smokey Idiazabal cheese that boasts plenty of nuttiness, though not enough to fill out a manscaped billboard.

Although you have no idea where the Kantauri Sea is, start by checking out the goods on their website
