Being environmentally conscious can mean sacrificing certain luxuries, from gas-guzzling whips, to the money you can pay other people to be environmentally conscious, so you can offset your gas-guzzling whip. Going green without sacrificing style: Nau.
Fresh in Chi from the Portland-based uber-eco clothiers, Nau's new drop continues the company's stringent production standards (sustainable materials, responsible production facilities), while even going so far as to donate 2 percent of all proceeds to charity, because she's only stripping to put herself through school. Warmth-enhancing outerwear includes an 850-fill goose down shirt with a 100% recycled polyester shell in colorways like Moss green and reddish Spice; the Rheostat jacket, designed for optimal warmth-to-bulk ratio and rocking a fully waterproof shell & helmet-accommodating hood; and the Modus Trench, a "caviar" colored jacket with a removable hood and a three-layer waterproof polyester shell designed to cut wind, so it's definitely intended to be worn outside. Accessory action's also here, from scarves both down-filled (with hidden pockets doubling as hand-warmers) and woven from Merino (subtly striped & lightweight), to the Ringleader, a super-durable poly fabric belt with recycled aluminum D-rings, though double D's have a habit of making your pants pretty tight.
For those on the go, there's even a poplin-lined organic cotton canvas duffel modeled after an old-fashioned doctor's bag called the Fluent Traveler, not to be confused with the Affluent Traveler, who needs to buy a lot of carbon offsets to ensure the environment's end isn't Lear.
