12 stitches for Obama after basketball game

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- President Barack Obama Friday suffered an injury to his lip while playing basketball with Reggie Love and members of his family, the White House said.

Press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama required 12 stitches to his lip after he was "inadvertently hit by an opposing player's elbow." The stitches were administered by the White House Medical Unit. A doctor used a local anesthetic while sewing up the president's lip.

Coyotes at Florida airport to be killed

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (UPI) -- Florida authorities say wild coyotes roaming a Marin County airport pose a safety threat to aircraft landing or taking off and will be trapped and killed.

The county has contracted with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services to remove the nuisance coyotes from the county-owned Witham Field airport starting on Monday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

David Nolan, Libertarian co-founder, dies

TUCSON (UPI) -- David Nolan, a founder of the Libertarian Party, has died in Arizona at age 66, a party official said.

Nolan apparently was stricken suddenly Saturday night while driving in Tucson and was taken to a hospital, where he died Sunday, party Chairman Mark Hinkle told the Los Angeles Times. The cause of death had not been determined.
