Your family's history may include that legendary 1988 trip to Rehoboth Beach, but it can't top the epic saga of the Zwack family, creators of the world's oldest shot: an herbal liqueur that's survived six generations, two world wars, and the communist invasion of Hungary, now ready to be served ice-cold to you. Four Wheel Dreams
Cover your walls with cars 'n planes
While not exactly the most romanticized times, the early 20th century still had plenty going on, from industrialization, to prosperity between two wars, to no one using protection...man, airbags are the worst! Romanticizing the machinery of the era is Four Wheel Dreams/Wings of the Past.
Wheel/Wings offers deadstock prints of classic cars and airplanes originally commissioned by a Cleveland auto/airplane parts maker who gave 'em out to customers during the mid part of last century, which're shipped out "flat, never rolled" from their Philly digs in acid-free sleeves, which everyone thought were super-lame when they tried to get on Ken Kesey's bus. Car depictions include a white-tired, wooden-wheeled, single-cylindered 1902 Olds being assembled at the factory, an open-wheeled, tapered-body 1911 Blitzen Benz racer crossing the finish line, a long-bodied, boat-tailed 1933 Duesenberg SJ shown in a small town parade, and a 1936 Bentley with long fenders and a sleek roofline on a body built by Gurney-Nutting, aka, how to get fired from the hospital. Winged things include a shot of the Lockheed XF-90 Penetration Fighter...penetrating something, a stylized painting of late 1940s air races featuring four single-engined prop planes, and a portrait of an Ercoupe 415D called "The Rainmaker Delivers", although it doesn't exactly explain why Pacman Jones will be bringing you your FedEx packages from now on.
Keeping with all things vintage, they're also selling some preserved crate labels from old shipping boxes, with old iconography of products like Wedding Veil cigars and semi-sexual veggie brands including Western Hoe and Bronco Buster -- also the name of a move that might make you reconsider your stance on protection.
Ever want to see a Vega, a Mustang II, and an AMC Pacer together? No? Well too bad!
