'Big Bang' renewed for three seasons

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- CBS Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television have renewed the U.S. sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" for three years, through the 2013-14 TV season.

The multiyear broadcast agreement was announced Wednesday by Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, and Peter Roth, president of Warner Bros. Television.

Showtime passes on 'Kennedys' mini

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Showtime said Wednesday it won't air "The Kennedys," a controversial miniseries about the American political dynasty starring Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes.

The History Channel was originally scheduled to run the eight-part series but announced last week it was not a good fit for its fact-based slate of programming.

Starz and FX Pass subsequently said they were not interested in airing the miniseries either.

'Speak' remains atop the U.S. album chart

LOS ANGELES (UPI) -- Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" is No. 1 on the U.S. album chart for a sixth non-consecutive week, Billboard.com reported Wednesday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 is Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday," followed by Bruno Mars's "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" at No. 3, Daft Punk's "TRON: Legacy" at No. 4 and Eminem's "Recovery" at No. 5.

Aretha says her health is 'superb'

NEW YORK (UPI) -- U.S. music icon Aretha Franklin, who reportedly has been treated for pancreatic cancer, says her health is now superb.

The 68-year-old artist dubbed the Queen of Soul has not confirmed she was diagnosed with the disease, but her representatives have said she underwent surgery to treat an illness and the operation was successful.
