Afghan guard kills 2 NATO troops

KABUL, Afghanistan (UPI) -- An Afghan security guard shot and killed two NATO soldiers in southern Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force said in a release Saturday.

The brief ISAF statement didn't identify the nationalities of the slain soldiers, saying their native country or countries would release details.

The majority of NATO troops in southern Afghanistan are from Australia, Britain, Canada and the United States.

Libya's Gadhafi blusters about no-fly zone

TRIPOLI, Libya (UPI) -- Libya's Moammar Gadhafi Saturday demanded the west back off enforcing the no-fly zone it declared this week, warning it could destabilize the region.

Gadhafi's government issued what it called an open letter to U.S. President Barack Obama, the United Nations and European leaders telling them not to interfere in Libyan internal affairs and warning there would be consequences if they did.

Poll finds Obama's job rating continues to slip

New York, NY, United States (AHN) - A recent poll finds President Obama's positive job rating has slipped for the second month in a row. In January he recorded his best rating (44%) since 2009, but it continued dow to 42% in February and 39% during the latest Harris Poll.

Congress has also seen its public's rating slip, with fully 90% of all adults now giving it a negative rating, compared to 86% in February and 84% in January.

Sandstorm season under way in China

BEIJING (UPI) -- China's first big sandstorm of the spring had government officials urging residents of Beijing to keep their windows and doors closed until it passed.

Blowing sand and dust raised the particulate-matter levels in the capital and many other parts of China Saturday.
