| Dear Readers, J.S. Bach was born March 21, 1685, in Eisenach, Thuringia. During his lifetime he was better known as a virtuoso organist, harpsichordist and organ builder than as a composer. It wasn't until the 19th century that the world began popularizing his work and building his reputation as one of the greatest composers of all time. On March 21, 1965, 3,200 civil rights demonstrators began a march from Selma, Ala., to Montgomery to protest discriminatory voting laws. The march came to weeks after "Bloody Sunday," when peaceful marchers in Selma were attacked by state and local police. Read the full article.
