Springtime is approaching and it is the time of year that especially students are busy scouting for summer openings and cool stuff to do. We at Aalto Entrepreneurship Society are offering three tracks to follow this summer: Summer of Startups, a 10-week “camp” to kickstart your startup dreams, Enternship, an internship program at the coolest startups this side of the Atlantic, and Startup Life in Silicon Valley, a University-sponsored internship program in California. The application is open for all of the above, so be fast!
In other news, we are busy getting ready for our big talk Finland Post Welfare due March 21st. You might wanna go check the event website as this is guaranteed to be the topic on everyone’s lips.

What's Going On in the Helsinki Startup Community
Startup Sauna Warmup
When: Wednesday, March 16 - mid-April 2011
Where: All around the Nordics and the Baltics
Aalto Venture Garage’s Startup Sauna seeks the most promising startups in the Baltic Rim and brings them together for an intense program at the Aalto Venture Garage in Helsinki, Finland.
The Startup Sauna starts as a series of events held in differents cities in the region, called Startup Sauna Warmup. The best teams found in the Warmup events will be invited to the Aalto Venture Garage to the Startup Sauna Intensive program. In Finland, the Sauna makes pit stops in Turku, Oulu, Tampere and Helsinki among other spots. See the website for specific dates and further information.
HSL Kehittäjäfoorumi - Mobile Developer Forum
When: Wednesday, March 16, 2011, 17-20
Where: Forum Virium (Aleksanterinkatu 16-18, Helsinki)
Helsinki Region Transport (HSL) launches a mobile competition to develop new services encouraging people to cycle, walk and use public transportation services. On the 16th, the organizers arrange an information session to hear more about the program, competition etc. Pre-registration needed, and the event will be in Finnish.
Finland Post Welfare
When: Monday, March 21, 19:00-23:00
Where: Finlandia Hall and in every broadband near you!
Aaltoes and heaps of other student networks, NGOs and other partners’ contribution to the political arena; Prior to the upcoming parliamentary elections, we want to see meaningful discurse on the future of our beloved country and its economy, so we decided to initiate that discussion ourselves. The seats are more or less all taken by now, but worry not - the event will be streamed online and we expect Twitter to be on fire as well.
Android Developer Seminar
When: Tuesday, March 22
Where: TBA
The topics of this seminar will include a number of topics, including Integration with Android Applications, Android OS Customization, and Contractual View on Android Market. Sounds awesome, we’re looking forward to this!
Crowfunding Event
When: Wednesday, March 23, 17:00-19:00
Where: Aalto University School of Economics, Room E-107 (Lapuankatu 6)
Hub Helsinki together with Aalto Social Impact arrange a series of events discussing crowdfunding and the possibilities it offers in funding social innovations and other objects. Hub Helsinki shares their on-going crowdfunding case and experiences from it. Registration needed.
