Israel StartupDigest
For newcomers: The Israel StartupDigest is a weekly events list of interest to Israeli entrepreneurs, curated by local entrepreneurs. We don't cover every event -- we handpick only the best ones.
Are there events I missed, events I included that aren't of interest, or upcoming events you'd like me to include? Drop me a line at yaniv@thestartupdigest.com for any feedback, questions, or ideas.

10 Laws of Building a SaaS Company in Israel
When: Tues Mar 15, 5:30pm
Where: Hapnina 2, Raanana, Microsoft Israel Offices
So you’ve decided that you want to open a SaaS startup – congratulations! That’s a great first step! But do you really understand what challenges you’re facing? Most Israeli companies are run by great technical teams but when it comes to execution there is still a huge gap. SaaS is all about execution and if you don’t realize this you’ll never succeed. What business model would be correct for your company and product? What does it take to support each business model and how hard would it be to do that in Israel? This presentation will help new and growing SaaS companies in Israel to better understand the challenges they are likely to face, and most importantly - how to identify them, overcome them, and succeed.

Bootstrapping My First Three Startups - by Adam Gries

Where: 32 Schocken Street Tel Aviv
As a senior at Brandeis University, Adam Gries co-founded NishNash, a website for restaurants (including ordering online) with a mechanical turk style backend to collect and digitize restaurant information. NishNash was sold to diningin.com in May of 2007. After the sale Adam built “I am Hungry,” one of the first successful applications on the facebook platform, later built Naughty Gifts (4 million users) and co-founded Social Dynamics, a social application company. Social Dynamics was sold to SGN in 2008, and Adam worked there as a software engineer for the best part of 2008. Since then Adam co-founded Social Expeditions, a social media production company which has created applications such as Photo of the Day (Facebook), How Well Do They Know Me (Myspace) and Tap Quest (iPhone). Adam will talk about: Shooting for the Moon: failing to bring restaurant information and restaurants online; Riding the social tide: how we went from zero 10M users and $1,000s/day from July to December 2007 and sold in April 2008; Making money online: random ways to make a million bucks in 18 months.
