The Playbook
Grub: Fig and Olive
8490 Melrose Pl; West Hollywood; 323.871.1151
The NY kitchen and tasting bar moves est, slinging their vaunted French and Mediterranean coast small plates (fig Gorgonzola tartlet w/ prosciutto, imported Jamon Serrano, Saucisson Sec charcuterie), and entrees (porcini and Gorgonzola Jamon Iberico ravioli, seared scallops w/ truffle artichoke tapenade and aged balsamic vinegar) from an 8,000sqft West Hollywood eat space that's split-level, also something Bob Vila would never let you do, as that dude pays for everything.

Eat/Rock: Rolling Stone Los Angeles
At Hollywood And Highland; Hollywood; 323.464.4000
Jan Wenner's music mag attempts to get into one of the only businesses where it's even harder to make a profit with RS/LA, which features two levels: a 140 seat walnut floored dining room upstairs with "'50s-style" leather chairs, tufted red leather banquettes, Brit style lampposts, and an outdoor patio; plus a lounge-esque downstairs with an elevated DJ booth, private booths, and an area for bottle service. Drinks come from the dude behind the cocktail menu at Westside Tavern, while vittles are an upscale "melting pot of culture", including snacks like warm bleu cheese popovers with caramelized shallot butter & pretzel knots with beer cheese fondue, plus mains like a Pinot-braised short rib osso bucco with whipped potatoes that hardly ever get to see their buds.

Go: The Girl Next Door
Mar 6th and Apr 3rd at King King: 6555 Hollywood Blvd; Hollywood
LA's classily termed "artistic pole dance revue" is back for the spring season with a Pole Dance Soiree showcasing 27 extremely flexible strong lady friends "exploring the sensual side of the everyday woman", as several hold down real jobs that range from school teacher, to publicist, to engineer, who surely knows the correct way to pitch a tent... because of her mastery of technical design. Why? What else would it mean?

Party: Tru Hollywood Supper Club
1600 Argyle; Hollywood
Now open, this three-level opulent club of the night seeks to make you remember a time when people in Hollywood were even more F-you rich, with a grand foyer papered with quartz wallpaper, a diamond walled great room, "gleaming" ebony bars, and both an open-air mezzanine and an underground private lounge called 1 Below. If you're feeling wealthy enough to eat, they've got a range of tapas, from crab cakes and tuna tartare, to BBQ pork sliders and a fennel beet salad, though salad will never admit it, because it feels too vulnerable and insecure to just walk away from fennel at this point.

We Want Bootsy: GBX @ JackThreads
Our Bro Dirts at JT're kicking out leather boots from the dress shoe concern's more casual X label, including a classic, elastic-sided, slip-on jodhpur they call the Double Gore, which'll still leave footprints, just not carbon ones.
