When entering a crowded market, being different can really help you stand out, which is why albinos at malls are such show-offs. Stepping it up on the movie rec tip, Moki.tv.
Touting itself as a recommendation & discovery engine for the Net's vast trove of streamable movie/TV content, Moki differentiates itself from reams of similar services by drawing in info from existing accounts, and sending off email alerts, ensuring you have a chance to KISS Rock The Nation goodbye. After running through a "Quick Rate" survey (assigning 1-5 stars to a list of random, recognizable flicks) and selecting your preferred platforms (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, iTunes, etc.), Moki's proprietary algorithm'll spit back hundreds of titles meant to suit your tastes -- providing hyperlinks for instant watching -- which you can sort by overall user rating, release date, or genre, though depending on the kind of action you want, release may be more of a minute-to-minute matter. Refine things further by linking in account history/taste prefs from third-party sites (currently just Netflix, but expanding), and add titles of interest to a queue that'll send you an email notice when they're either about become available to stream instantly, or about to expire, which pretty much includes anything featuring Abe Vigoda.
If you don't trust your own taste-based suggestions, there's also a directory of popular critics' "must-sees", which really shouldn't include Powder, considering that dude at the mall is already such a Hot Topic.
