The Playbook

Eat Inn: Guilty Goose
131 W 23rd St, btwn 6th and 7th; Chelsea; 212.255.3727
Located inside of a quaint inn, this "modern-American brasserie" offers an appropriately old-school atmosphere (hanging copper lights pulled from the bygone Philadelphia Convention Center, a sandstone bar built over glass from a factory that used to manufacture WWII tanks) to go with mind-blowing sandwiches like the porktastic Fisherman's Going To Hell (Black Forest ham, porchetta, pork belly, pickles), initially concocted for their Jewish friend...Fisherman; the thrice-pattied 131 Burger w/ white cheddar on a pretzel roll; and the grilled duck/fried egg/goose sausage gravy Duck-Duck-Goose -- keep eating it, and you'll always be picked last.
They've also got an awesome list of beers, so check it out on the menu here

Not Rocket Science: Covert Shoelab
At the Limelight Marketplace: 656 Avenue of the Americas, nr 20th, Flatiron; 212.359.5600
The newest addition to Limelight, this kicks concern's fitting area is decked with ornate iron benches and 19thC street lamps like some badass Victorian garden, while their futuristic display shelves're lined with footwear from the likes of Fred Perry, Supra, the Hundreds, Lacoste (whose collabs include a CSL exclusive with Sneaker Freaker), and Warrior, whose Chinese roots guarantee you can wok this way.

Showy Cocktailing: Theater Bar
Opening this weekend: 114 Franklin St, btwn 6th ave and W Broadway; Tribeca; 212.334.3633
Finally moving out of private party mode, the libation library's heavily nooked, balcony'd space is still centered around the theater-curtain-backed bar, where the main attraction'll be 'tenders putting on "a show" while concocting an ever changing selection of next-level cocktails, also something Tom Cruise keeps promising every time he moves up an OT rank.

Meat Flippers: Ox Brand Forge
From a dude whose metal crafting resume includes manufacturing "the knife used by actor Leo Rossi in Maniac Cop 2", these handforged and cold-worked metal tools spring forth from his garage as spatula/fork/tong sets like The Knuckle (with ends that snake back around the body), and a particularly gnarled collection made from hammered steel called The Wicked, ideal if you cook a lot of Boston butt.

Instantness: Freespeech
Providing an easier and cheaper way to communicate with friends, this recently launched app's essentially a BBM for iPhones, and has three core features: free instant messaging, real-time message acknowledgments, and group texting, because ending the necessity of actual human contact contact one individual at a time is just too personal.

Brewzin': Williamsburg Bar Crawl
Multiple Locations; Williamsburg
Join this trek through Williamsburg for full pours of crafts (Bear Republic Racer 5, Founders Red Rye...) and snacks at joints including The Commodore, Lucky Dog, Full Circle Bar, and The Charleston, which likely only agreed to be involved due to mistakenly believing that those hopping would be doing the Lindy.
