A Village Two-fer
Just because the warm weather's upon us doesn't mean you want to travel more than a block after dinner to get your booze on. Thankfully, these two brand new WVill offerings have kindly opened across the street from one another, meaning you can crush some fish before going off and drinking like one, too.
Time for a Brew: GMT Tavern
142 Bleecker St, nr LaGuardia; Greenwich Village; 646.863.3776
Set up like some boozy lord's sun parlor, this Brit-inspired tavern's slinging an artful selection of international beers & socially man-ceptable 'tails in a space loaded with large burnt orange chandeliers, burgundy banquettes, raised communal tables, an ornate banister wrapping around an elevated DJ station, and a dark wood bar backed by a traditional English clock boasting 24 numbers, which hopefully don't go to their heads like they did to Kiefer's. Cocktail highlights include a Chivas Regal-/Combier Rouge-based Blood & Sand, the Devil in Disguise (Patron Silver, creme de cassis, lime, ginger ale), and the Dicken's Cider, with Beefeater Winter Edition, Velvet Falernum, and lemon juice; beer encompasses large-format shareables of Chimay Blue and Southern Tier Unearthly IPA, plus an impressive draft list rocking Holy Grail Ale, Wychwood Hobgoblin, and Harpoon Seasonal Celtic (though in fairness, it's hard to be a fan year round when everyone lives just outside Boston).
Food's on its way in about two weeks, but you can check out the rest of the brews, cocktails, and wines on the menu right here

Dig in: The Mussel Pot
Opening late next week: 174 Bleecker St, btwn Sullivan and MacDougal; 212.260.2700
Bringing you the flavors of the world one pot at a time, this elegantly mod bivalvery features a 12-seat granite bar, custom chandeliers, earth-toned walls lined with beachfront photography, and, in the rear, a rock walled, koi-ponded outdoor "oasis garden", suggesting it's filled with Morning Glories. Abetting their mollusks with everything from lobster mac to fried chicken, the titular filter feeders're done up in more than two dozen regionally associated flavors (with a suggested bread pairing for each!), including the Chef's Best (lobster cheese fondue, pancetta, black truffles), the pulled pork & BBQ sauce Texan, and the calamari/ tomato/ onion/ mint Olympus, ironic, as after Dionysianly gorging on it no one will want to mount you.
Check out TheMusselPot.com for more info on all the mouthwatering mussel combos
