Sports Update For Indiana Friday March 11, 2011 Basketball Hockey Other Basketball COL BKB: Kentucky 75, Mississippi 66 ATLANTA (UPI) -- Brandon Knight scored Kentucky's last seven points Friday, helping the No. 16 Wildcats to a 75-66 win over Mississippi in the SEC Tournament. Kentucky (23-8) advances to the tournament semifinals Saturday against Alabama. Mississippi was eliminated with a 20-13 record. The Wildcats led the entire game, including by as many as 10 points midway through the second half. But Mississippi pulled back to within two when Chris Warren hit a 3-point shot with 1:47 to go. Knight quickly answered for Kentucky and, after Warren missed a shot, got the rebound and was fouled. He made two free throws and added another after a rebound off another Rebels miss. That made the score 73-66 with 26 seconds left. He was fouled yet again after a rebound and sealed the win with two more free throws. Doron Lamb led Kentucky with 19 points while Knight had 17 and six rebounds. Warren, despite 4-of-15 shooting from 3-point range, led all scorers with 20 points. Terrance Henry chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds for Mississippi. (UPI) -- Alex Burrows scored the only goal in the shootout Thursday to help the Vancouver Canucks beat San Jose 5-4. The Sharks came from behind twice to tie the score during the closing minutes of regulation, when the teams combined for three goals and wound up headed for extra time. Burrows had a goal in regulation and Sami Salo, Mason Raymond and Daniel Sedin also scored for Vancouver, which won for the fourth time on a five-game road trip that concludes Saturday in Calgary. Cory Schneider finished with 44 saves for the Canucks -- stopping nine shots in overtime and denying all three San Jose shooters in the shootout. Antti Niemi posted 24 saves for the Sharks, who got two goals from Ryan Clowe and one each from Devin Setoguchi and Torrey Mitchell. Copyright 2011 by United Press International Other Switzerland's Feuz wins men's downhill KVITFJELL, Norway (UPI) -- Switzerland's Beat Feuz won the men's downhill in Norway Friday for the first Alpine World Cup win of his career. Feuz finished in 1 minute 47.39 seconds, 0.05 second ahead of Erik Guay of Canada, Michael Walchhofer of Austria took third and Steve Nyman was the top U.S. finisher in 25th place. Walchhofer, who plans to retire at the end of the season, pulled to within 50 points of Switzerland's Didier Cuche, the leader in the season World Cup downhill standings. Friday's event was a make-up race for the December Birds of Prey event in Colorado that was canceled due to bad weather.
