Rikon 10" Bandsaw
A Great Value at $219.99

We've sold almost 400 of this exceptional value from Rikon over the past 2 years, making it our all-time best-selling bandsaw ever. That's because it has proven itself as a solid performer that's also very affordable. After we installed one of our Wood Slicer resawing blades on our demo model, we were able to resaw uniform slices 1/64" thick off the length of a 4x4. We highly recommend it as your first bandsaw bought on a budget, or as a second bandsaw that allows you to avoid constantly swapping blades on your main bandsaw.

Prices Reduced on Select Swedish Axes

We have recently lowered prices on more than a dozen of our Gransfors-Bruks handmade Swedish axes, especially some of the more exotic ones based on designs dating back as far as the 11th century.

Another Testimonial for the WOOD SLICER
When I first saw your ad I poo-poo'ed it. But I went ahead and bought one and decided to try it. My first project was to take the 3/4 inch blade and resaw a piece of 13 inch by 2 inch quarter sawn oak. First I measured off the lines and placed them on the wooden block which was about two feet long. Right down the center. Started the saw and from the "get go" you just know if something is working right or not? Well 20 seconds later I had a PERFECT cut! No if, ands or buts about it. Right down the line with two fingers pushing the block and holding it against my standard fence which is about 3 inches tall. So, minimal set up, no effort - perfect cut...End of story. From now on all my band saw blades come from here and if you want a reference I will be glad to show anyone what and how I did the cut.
Thanks,
— P. Kellam

One Man's Lathe Setup

By Tom Soles

When I retired in 2001, I started to look for that perfect setup that would allow me to turn very large bowls, and after looking at all of the domestic lathes and several foreign "guys" I decided on Oneway from Canada. This search took nine years (I am a very picky guy).

We enjoyed reading the turning articles in this special woodturning issue so much, we decided it should become a regular feature in Wood News!

We invite you to SEND US PHOTOS & STORIES of your favorite current woodturning topic.

This could include your latest woodturning projects, your current shop setup for woodturning, the new tool you built yourself that does the job perfectly, or even a story about your own woodturning career. Please include captions for any pictures, and email photos at 800x600 resolution. Receive a $50 store gift card if we feature you in a future issue.

Check out the innovative and easy-to-use Easy Wood Tools!

Why so easy? The flat shank of the Easy Wood Tool allows the tool to always ride dead flat on the tool rest, so the turner's attention can be focused on things other than the tool's edge, and the cutter is simply moved straight into the work. This simple technique is a boon for beginner turners, or turners who have struggled using standard tools and techniques in the past.

Take a look at Easy Wood Tools and start your career as a Wood Turner today!

A Homemade Mini
Texturing Tool for Woodturners

By Phil Colson

I wanted to share how I made a mini texturing tool out of parts from Highland Woodworking. It uses a Dremel HHS cutter to get repeatable textures. I use it on boxes, bottle stoppers, pens, finials, bowls and hollow forms.

My Career in Woodturning

By George T. (Terry) Chapman

The first time I tried to turn a piece of wood was using my Shopsmith. I turned out a couple of quick spindles and showed them to my wife who professed suitable admiration. That was enough to keep me going.
