The infrastructure necessary to charge electric vehicles and keep them on the road has been a major concern. Being able to charge EVs while you are out and about is slowly getting easier. A couple more retailers have announced they are rolling out new programs to provide charging stations in their parking lots.

Bloomberg Plans to Turn Old NYC Landfills into Solar Power Plants

cut New York City's emissions by 30 percent by 2030. One of the major new projects will be the building of solar power plants on old landfill sites. New York City has about 3,000 acres of shuttered landfills and through this plan 250 of those will be outfitted with solar power. Once those plants come online, they'll have a capacity of 50 MW, enough to power 50,000 homes.

New Map Shows Size of Forests in U.S.

A new map created by the Woods Hole Research Center shows the height, coverage and carbon storage levels of forests in the U.S. The map was put together by using NASA satellite images from 2000-2001 as well as ground-level surveys by the USGS and USDA Forest Service.

EV Charging Stations Springing Up in Major Retailers' Parking Lots

Two major retail companies have announced that they're ramping up the installation of EV charging stations in the parking lots of their stores, meaning EV drivers around the country will soon be able to fill up while they run errands.

Top Ten Solar Power States

The New York Times published a rundown today of the top ten states in installed solar power capacity. That California was number one was no surprise, but the other nine were interesting to see. Read the article for the full list.
