In the present day, emerging technological innovations are occurring simultaneously and continuously in every field. Fields of research include biotechnology (genetic engineering, et cetera), energy systems (biofuels), information technology (artificial intelligence and quantum computing), and robotics and applied mechanics (swarm robotics). Interactive voice response systems have benefitted and will continue to benefit from this type of technological convergence.

Achieving a truly conversational and intelligent voice interface is the holy grail of the IVR industry.

The IVR doesn't have to take on the role of selling to be an effective tool.

Intelligent Number (SM) has been launched in beta by Intercept Networks, a project between Primary Wave Media and TeleSmart Networks. It's a combined marketing platform and IVR solution to create a single, mobile entry point for marketers to deliver content across multiple platforms to the consumer.

Domino's Pizza, one of the largest and most expansive pizza-serving restaurant and delivery chains, has incorporated IVR technology into its payment devices for delivery workers so customers can now pay over the phone. In a trial period, Domino's will allow its customers in India to pay for pizzas over the phone with technology powered by PayMate.

Acclaim Telecom Services, an IVR application development and IVR hosting solutions company, has just received certification of PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) for Service Providers. This certification is part of an ongoing enhancement process to the Acclaim IVR/Telecom hosted solutions and cloud computing offerings, a press release stated.

Moore's Law says that the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles about every two years. Because of this, processor speed and general computing power increases almost exponentially along with it. Computers are getting more and more powerful every year.

A Google search for hate interactive voice response yields over 6.6 million results. By contrast, a Google search for love interactive voice response yields around 2 million. Without debate, the IVR industry is one that carries a negative connotation by outsiders. In the rapidly growing market of speech recognition and its limitless application potential, how do you label a new generation of innovative, helpful products when the accepted term is stagnant and outdated?
