COCKTAIL PARTY MUNCHIES

Summer is here and we are just around the corner from Memorial Day - Its time to party like the rock star that you are. If you are serving up cocktails, serving up delicious cocktail munchies is an absolute must. While we cannot take full credit for inventing all of these tasty bits - we've twisted and altered them into something we feel is even better than the original. We've prepared and eaten every concoction presented...and, our cocktail party guests were delighted. Enjoy!

Wasabi Pepper Martini Almonds

Ingredients
1 egg white
5 tablespoons Absolut Peppar vodka
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons sea salt
2 tablespoons wasabi powder
1 teaspoon wasabi paste
1.25 pounds whole almonds

The mix
Line a baking sheet with lightly greased parchment paper while pre-heating your oven to 275 degrees. Whisk your egg and slowly add the vodka until the mixture is foamy - add almonds to the mix. Pour the egg/almond mixture into a mesh strainer and allow the liquid to drain. Mix the wasabi powder, wasabi paste, salt and cornstarch in a large bowl...add the almonds and toss gently to coat. Spread the almonds onto your baking sheet and bake for 35 minutes. Allow to cool and serve in a beautiful dish.

Prosciutto Palm Hearts

Ingredients
1 can of palm hearts
1/2 teaspoon of olive oil
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
2 pickles - coarse chopped
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
15 black olives - sliced
8 slices of good quality prosciutto
3 hard boiled eggs - sliced
Toothpicks

The mix
Drain the liquid from your can of palm hearts and gently pat them dry with paper towel. Slice your prosciutto into thin strips and wrap one around each palm heart - secure with a toothpick. Season lightly with your cayenne pepper, garlic powder and olive oil. Arrange your seasoned, wrapped palm hearts on an attractive serving plate and garnish with egg slices, chopped olives and chopped pickles.

Grilled marinated tofu - martini style

Ingredients
1 pound firm tofu (drained and pressed)
1/4 cup low salt soy sauce
1 ounce vodka
2 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons mirin
3/4 tablespoon Asian sesame oil
1 lime - sliced and quartered

The mix
Cut your tofu into bite sized cubes and place in a flat dish. Combine soy sauce, water, mirin, vodka and sesame oil and pour over the tofu cubes. Marinate for 15 minutes. Drain and gently pat each cube dry. Place tofu on a lightly greased broiler pan and broil until browned (usually takes about 4 minutes on each side). Sekwer a piece of tofu and a slice of lime. Arrange on a fancy serving dish...enjoy!Grilled tofu cocktail appetizer recipes

NEW MARTINI RECIPES

Sky Juice-A-Tini

Ingredients
1.5 ounces of Rangpur gin
3.5 ounces of coconut water
Fresh lime wedges

The mix
Combine the Rangpur gin and coconut water into a shaker 3/4 full of cracked ice and shake like mad. Strain into a freezing martini glass and top with a lime wedge. Sip and enjoy. You could also include a teaspoon of coconut milk to add some richness.

Remember that presentation is a big part of serving up a martini - you should buy a cool new martini glass from us!

Green Tea Mojito Martini

Ingredients
2 green tea bags
4 ounces of rum
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon sugar
3 fresh mint leaves
3 tablespoons club soda (optional)

The mix

Steep 2 green tea or mint green tea bags in a cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes.  Add a tablespoon of sugar and stir to disolve, then let cool.  To a shaker 3/4 full of cracked ice, add the cup of green tea, 4 ounces of rum and lime juice.  Shake up and pour into 2 freezing martini glasses.  This is optional - you can add a splash of club soda to give a bit of fizz, then garnish with a lime wedge or mint leaves.

Another option to this is to use gin.  It certainly won't be a Mojito anymore...but, what the heck! Gin pairs nicely with tea, as both have herbal qualities, so you'd have a version of a gin martini crossed with a gin and tonic...we'd recommend Hendricks Gin.

Patriotic Hypnotic Martini

Ingredients
1/2 ounce chilled grenadine
3 ounces Hypnotiq blue liqueur
Coconut curl
1 American flag

The mix
Add the Hypnotiq to a shaker 3/4 full of cracked ice and shake like mad. Gently pour the grenadine into a freezing martini glass. Carefully strain your freezing Hypnotiq into your martini glass so that it rests atop the grenadine. Garnish with the coconut curl. Display your flag proudly and please give a salute to the proud men and women that have fought (and are still fighting) for our freedom.

Fast Facts...or just fun thoughts...

  • Many believe that the martini glass was invented during the prohibition era. The wide cavity of the glass made it easy to dispose of the banned alcohol during a police raid.
  • The martini glass is the most well known type of cocktail glass - we absolutely agree!

Martini Quotes...

  • "He knows just how I like my martini - full of alcohol" Homer Simpson
  • "One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three is not enough" James Thurber
