And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier's tomb, and beauty weeps the brave. ~Joseph Drake They come from all walks of life, from all across this great nation. Each one has given their life on the battlefield for our freedom. They are our fallen soldiers. For all their differences, and for each unique story their paths tell, their common thread is valor. They serve around the world so we can remain safe and free, to keep America the greatest nation on earth. They have made the ultimate sacrifice for us, and so have their families. We honor these fallen heroes this Memorial Day. Christian Response would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to those who have served America and given their lives to preserve freedom here and around the world. Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. It is meant to be a day for us to pause and remember those who have given their lives to the cause of freedom. It has been said many times, freedom is not "free." It requires incredible bravery and courage from men and women who, just like us, have families and aspirations they would like to see well into the future. Sadly, many don't come home, and those of us who remain behind owe these heroic souls our endless respect - not just on Memorial Day, but every day that we are able to breathe free because they went away and fought for us while leaving their own lives behind. Thanks to them, our children are able to sleep safely at night. Thanks to them, our families enjoy the security to travel freely within the United States. Thanks to them, our future is limited only by our imagination. Thanks to them, America remains free. Please join us in a moment of reflection this Memorial Day. We want to honor those who have given their all for this great country; and also say a prayer for those they left behind. May God bless them. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 Sincerely, Jon Christian Ryter Christian Response Alerts Although no sculptured marble should rise to their memory, nor engraved stone bear record of their deeds, yet will their remembrance be as lasting as the land they honored.
