Greetings , | Jane Doe #005 | On Saturday night, June 18, 2011, a YCSD officer on routine patrol discovered the body of an unidentified young woman in a self-storage unit. In his verbal report at the scene, the R/O told us, in part, R/O observed a partially open storage unit and light coming from inside the unit... R/O noted that the storage unit's manual overhead door was open approximately 8 inches from the ground and observed a combination padlock on the ground... At the far end of the unit, R/O observed what appeared to be a female person, wrapped in plastic and lying on a work bench... This time, you will decide who the killer is, what the motive was, and what the evidence is. We've given you the incident report, photos of the body and the evidence, and a press report. You tell us what happened. There is no "correct" answer. Use your imagination and your detective skills to devise the story behind the crime. Submit your tale of what happened and why in 500 words or less by Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The Crime Scene staff will review all of the entries and select the best ones based on creativity, plausibility, character and plot. Those top entries will be posted anonymously, and Crime Scene viewers will be invited to vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced on July 7, 2011 and prizes, including free Crime Scene memberships, will be awarded. Visit the Mystery Writing Contest page to see the complete contest rules, to review the evidence and to submit your entry.
