Officials at Chelsio Communications, a leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet company, have produced a recent white paper showing how its 10GbE iSCSI lets you have what the company calls "no compromise" IP SANs for enterprise networks. In fact, Chelsio officials claim the 10GbE iSCSI offers a low cost of ownership, and among the highest performance levels among SAN fabric alternatives; and the Chelsio T4 offers a third generation iSCSI protocol offload design, which company officials describe as "an essential requirement for 10GbE IP SANs to deliver performance, scalability" and ROI vis-á-vis Fibre Channel.
The technology is comprised of software modules that allow for direct wire access from user space to the Chelsio T4 network adapter with complete bypass of the kernel, which results in an ultra-low, three microsecond deterministic latency Gigabit Ethernet solution for high frequency trading and other delay-sensitive applications, according to company officials.
