In November Arizona voters approved by referendum the sale of medical marijuana. Now Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican who opposed the initiative, has found a way to try to keep it from going into effect: She brought a suit in federal court asking a judge to decide whether the Arizona statute should be struck down because it violates federal antidrug laws. Take a look at what the impending battle means for entrepreneurs.

Then meet the top five vote-getters in our annual roundup of America’s most promising social enterprises. Hear from experts about a bank that wants a business to make a deposit to get a loan. Catch an interview about a boomlet of food and beverage startups. Finally, learn about a professional school for Web entrepreneurs, scheduled to open this fall in the building that once housed the Paris stock exchange. Enjoy.
