PHOENIX, Ariz. (July 31, 2011) - The eight remaining 2011 US Youth Soccer National Champions were crowned today at Reach 11 Sports Complex, in Phoenix, Ariz. This week, country?s top teams in the Under-14 through Under-19 Boys and Girls met to conclude the final step of the 2011 US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. After three days of preliminary play, and the Under-14 and Under-15 finals last night, it was the Under-16 through Under-19 Boys and Girls age group finals.
The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series (State, Regional and National Championships) began with more than 10,000 teams. These teams have been pared down to the 60 national qualifiers in Phoenix following the US Youth Soccer State and Regional Championship competitions. This weekend, the final 24 teams played for the 12 US Youth Soccer National Championship titles.
The Series pits the top teams against each other to test their ability and every team in the field deserves their shot at the title based on the success of the team.

Under-16 - Girls Sting 95 (N-TX) v. Hurricane FC 95 Shubert (OK), 4-3 (OT)
Three times in the 2011 US Youth Soccer National Championship game Sting 95 fell behind Hurricane FC. Three times Sting came back to equalize, including a goal in stoppage time. In overtime, Maddy Crabtree played the hero as she netted the game winner to lift her team to back-to-back national championships.
?What can you say about being down on every goal?? Sting head coach Kenny Medina said. ?This team had the will to come back. There?s no time left on the clock and they scored the tying goal. They just never quit. I mean, what do you say but they?re a special team.?
After Hurricane FC took the lead in the 7th minute on an Elizabeth Keester strike, her tournament-leading fifth goal, Crabtree answered almost immediately. Jasmine Pascoe gave Hurricane the lead again in the 35th, only to see Caitlyn Heap answer for Sting in the 53rd. After Anna Beffer appeared to give Hurricane the championship with a 73rd-minute strike, Katherine Martin leveled in stoppage time for Sting and sent the game to overtime. The Sting title gives the club its 11th national championship title, the most for any girls club in the country.
Under-17 Girls - NSA Premier Fury (IL) v. St. Louis Scott Gallagher (MO), 2-0
In a day-one rematch, two National League teams faced off in the U-17 Girls? final, with NSA Premier Fury again prevailing over St. Louis Scott Gallagher to win the Laura Moynihan Cup. Golden Ball winner Zoe Swift scored first in the final, as she found the net in the 34th minute. University of Michigan commit Corinne Harris doubled the lead for NSA in the 56th minute and secured the victory.
?If you want to be a good team, you have to play good competition,? NSA head coach Rade Martinovic said. ?This is good competition?the top of the top. If you play against such good teams you can beat everyone and you can lose to everyone. This is all about the game. I?m very appreciative of the heart my girls put on the field and I?m proud of all of them.?
Under-18 Girls - FC Milwaukee (WI) v. Colorado Rush Nike (CO), 4-2 (OT)
FC Milwaukee and Colorado Rush Nike played 90 minutes of soccer to a 1-1 tie. In the 30 minutes of overtime, the two teams exploded for four goals, including a Cara Walls double, which gave FC Milwaukee the 4-2 victory and the first national championship by a team from Wisconsin.
?You start at 10,000 teams and everybody?s got to play through each stage of state, regionals and nationals. At any one of those stages you meet really good teams. So nobody gets here by fluke,? FC Milwaukee coach Christian Lavers said. ?Two years ago this team didn?t get out of state cup. Two years later, they?re the number one team in the country. To look back at all the work and all the teams and all the ups and downs to come to this point, I mean it?s such an incredible accomplishment. There are a lot of really good teams out there who don?t get this opportunity, so they should be really proud of themselves.?
Under-19 Girls - Dallas Texans 92 Red Dallas v. Real Colorado National 91/92 (CO), 2-1 (OT)
The Dallas Texans are national champions again. After winning the title as an Under-16 team, the Texans outlasted Real Colorado in Sunday?s Under-19 Girls? final, to win 2-1 in overtime. With less than 10 minutes remaining, Shelby Redman was brought down in the box to earn a PK for the Texans. Redman stepped up and buried the game and championship winner in the 111th minute.
?This team won the national championship in my first year with the Texans (Under-16), and now four years later, to win another, it makes you really appreciate how hard it is to do this. You really enjoy the next one because you realize how lucky and selective it is,? Dallas Texans coach Ryan Higginbotham said. ?As Under-19s it?s their last game ever as a club player. They get to write a storybook ending and you don?t usually get to do that.?
Under-16 Boys - Concorde Fire Elite (GA) v. Albion White (CA-S), 2-1
A National Championship trophy still eludes Albion White (CA-S) as the 2010 runner-up suffered the same fate in 2011, falling to Concorde Fire Elite (GA) 2-1 in the Under-16 Boys title game. A battle of US Youth Soccer National League division champions, Concorde avenged an opening day loss to Albion to capture the club?s first ever national championship. Division scoring leader Cameron Moseley put Concorde in the lead seven minutes into the match and that goal stood until Dontae Walker equalized for Albion with just 10 minutes left to play. The game was level for just three minutes before Concorde regained the lead on a Shaban Abousaud penalty kick to claim the national crown.
Under-17 Boys - Grand Rapids Crew Juniors (MI) v. Penn Fusion Celtic (E-PA), 1-1 (5-4 PKs)
For the third time this season, Grand Rapids Crew Juniors (MI) and Penn Fusion Celtic (E-PA) played to a 1-1 score in regulation and the teams had to be separated by penalty kicks to determine the national champion, where Crew prevailed 5-4. The two US Youth Soccer National League competitors drew 1-1 in the league season and again on the final day of preliminary play, but Crew were perfect from the spot to finally grab their first title in four straight appearances at the National Championships. Michigan State commit and Golden Ball winner Sean Conerty extended his scoring lead with a goal in the 71st minute to put Crew ahead, but a fantastic play from Thomas Shiiba set up Melvin Snoh?s diving header with a minute to play to force overtime and eventually penalty kicks.
An emotional Remco Bergsma, coach of the Crew, tried to put the championship into words as he says goodbye to the team after leading them to all four National Championship appearances.
?This is it; this is why these guys worked so hard for four years. You want to go out winning and they?ve worked so hard and done what they needed to do. We?ve known it for the whole year, so we worked toward our dream and these kids deserve it so much.?
Under-18 Boys - Alpharetta Ambush 93 Red (GA) v. YMS Thunder (E-PA), 0-1
Under-18 Boys YMS Thunder (E-PA) upended the defending champs Alpharetta Ambush 93 Red (GA) 1-0 to take the club?s first title back to PA. An 89th-minute penalty kick from Penn State signee Kyle MacDonald proved to be the game winner. The strike also gave MacDonald top scorer honors over Ambush?s Karl Chester, headed to the University of Alabama-Birmingham, as MacDonald was named tournament MVP.
Under-19 Boys - Chicago Fire (IL) v. Baltimore Bays Chelsea (MD), 0-2
The Under-19 Boys Baltimore Bays Chelsea (MD) won their club?s ninth boys? national championship, tops of any club in the country, with a 2-0 victory over Chicago Fire (IL) to claim the 76th McGuire Cup championship. This Bays team is now a three-time National Champion (Under-14, Under-15 and Under-19). The Bays won at least one US Youth Soccer National Championship in every year since 2003, with the exception of 2005. University of Maryland?s Marquez Fernandez set the tone for the Bays with a goal in the 5th minute. Bay?s teammate Jeremy Kirkwood doubled the advantage five minutes into the second half for their ninth title in nine years which includes two McGuire Cups.
?I love coming back here, I think you guys do things the right way,? said Bays head coach Steve Nichols. ?This is a special experience and these guys will tell you, they won it at Under-14 and Under-15, and they?ll never forget this one either. What?s great about this (Nationals) is that our country has history. It was there when I played and for the guys before me; you win your state, your regional and you get to go to nationals. These guys are all in college and they fought to get back here; they fought to get back here because it means something to them.?

On Thursday, August 11 at 8 p.m. ET, the US Youth Soccer National Championships Highlight Show will premiere on the Fox Soccer Channel, US Youth Soccer's official television partner. The show will highlight the national championships providing game footage from all 12 championship matches, as well as feature stories, interviews and more.
The tournament consists of US Youth Soccer Regional Champions in the Under-14 through Under-19 Boys and Girls age groups as well as the US Youth Soccer National League qualifiers in the Under-15 through Under-17 Boys and Girls age groups to complete the field of 60 teams.
