I work every day to get food banks across the country the food they need to feed families struggling with hunger. And I can tell you firsthand, this summer is a really tough time for them.
Last month we sat down with Jill Beard, Program Coordinator at Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, a partner agency of Feeding America network member the North Texas Food Bank. On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, they distribute food directly to families in need.
But, during the summer months, it becomes tougher and tougher to restock the shelves and continue to meet the needs of families in their community.
There’s no vacation from hunger. When the shelves are bare, it is harder to help the men, women, and children who reach out to our network for food. It doesn’t have to be this way.
