Fiber channel protocol (FCP), a gigabit-speed transport standard for enterprise storage area networks (SANs), is one of the latest, greatest things to hit the Ethernet market. The technology is similar to TCP for IP networks, and is mostly used to transport SCSI commands over fiber channel networks.



A leading European collocation and data center service provider, Interxion Holding, recently reported an important milestone in its green agenda. The company that provides carrier neutral, colocation services through its 28 data centers in 11 countries across Europe, announced that its London data center has signed an agreement with SmartestEnergy for 100 percent renewable energy. The agreement will enable Interxion to dramatically reduce the said data center's carbon footprint and become the latest of Interxion's data centers to convert to 100 percent renewable energy.



A new line of industrial media converters has been released by L-com, Inc. Apart from being DIN rail-mountable, these media converters are able to support up to 80-kilometer transmission distances over single mode cable. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top global company in the manufacture of wired and wireless connectivity products, L-com Inc.



Sidera Networks, a provider of tailored, high capacity communications services, asserted that it has expanded its fiber network in Bristol County, Massachusetts to further support OSHEAN project.



China's largest manufacturer of fiber optic patch cords, China Fiber Optic Network System Group Ltd. recently announced its consolidated results for the six months ended June 30, 2011.



Integra Telecom, a provider of business-grade networking, communications and cloud solutions, announced that its employees raised more than $10,000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS) as part of its Community Matters program.
