San Diego: The Game
Get your localized game on
Turning something into a game is a great way to get people engaged in things they normally wouldn't do, as long as you know it'll eventually tire of being in G-Unit and start dissing them on mixtapes in order to leave and sign with Geffen. For on-foot city exploration that should allow you to pass more than 16 bars, the gents behind The Game.

Launched by a pair who figured learning the ins and outs of one's city shouldn't have to involve middle-aged tour guides or becoming a drug runner, The Game distracts from the actual learning aspect to keep players/ teams fully engaged in the task at hand while subtly forcing you to learn more about the city than just where the closest Wet Seal is (Horton Plaza, son!).

To get in on the action, teams start by purchasing an e-ticket that'll set the hunt in motion with a start point and first task which could involve anything from posing like, and snapping pics with a statue to scouring buildings for answers hidden in iconic graffiti; plugging in the first wrong answer'll be met with a hint, while a second wrong will directly affect the tallied final score, so here's hoping answering these questions is one of your (John) Fortes.

For the launch, SD has two independent adventures (Balboa Park & the Gaslamp Quarter) which'll have gamers searching for gravity-defying mammalian creatures, quizzing hopefully knowledgeable street-walkers AKA tourists, and learning Snapple cap-worthy city secrets like which local dude invented the concept of hanging out at malls (HINT: Kevin Smith is not from San Diego...or is he?!? No, he's not).

They're also running games in 13 major cities throughout the US, so people everywhere can figure out whether they Hate It Or Love it. G-G-G-G-G-G-uNIT!!!!

They're hooking up the first 100 folks to try it out with FREE gaming, so cruise to StrayBoots.com and get some
